Weinviertel Weinstrasse West:
Enjoyment in the western Weinviertel.
The Weinviertel Weinstrasse West is located in the region dominated by the Manhartsberg ridge, from Hohenwarth to Retz and Röschitz to Mailberg. An unusual microclimate, and special soil types not found anywhere else in Lower Austria, provide a fertile breeding ground for a wide range of different varieties.
The Weinviertel Weinstrasse winds its way through the gently rolling countryside, passing idyllic cellar lanes and leafy squares where time stands still. Wherever the journey leads, culinary treats and a good glass of wine are never far away. Set off on a voyage of discovery brimming with new experiences and enjoy the warm local hospitality on offer.
Welcome!
Retz is the best known of all the wine towns on the western section of the Weinviertel Weinstrasse wine route. Other highlights of the Weinviertel Weinstrasse West include the Veltliner town of Röschitz, the longest cellar lane – in Hadres – and the Pulkau valley, which featured in popular Austrian crime film Polt. More than 100 participating producers in the region look forward to welcoming you to the Weinviertel.
